Staying Safe This Summer
We all love summer. There’s something wonderful about relaxing at the beach or at a park, enjoying the warm sun. Unfortunately, this is not necessarily the best way to treat our bodies. The sun and the heat can wreak havoc on our bodies, so we have some important tips for you to keep in mind when you start planning your summer fun.
Keep Water Nearby
You have to stay hydrated. When we are out there with our family or friends, having fun swimming or playing at the beach, we can forget to drink the right amount of liquids we need. Many people end up feeling sick after a long day in the heat or even suffering from mild heat stroke. This can be avoided by making sure yourself, your family and friends drink water periodically. Even if you are not thirsty, make yourself take a few sips. Not only can this prevent overheating, but it can also keep your energy up throughout the day.
Keep Alcohol at a Minimum
If you are out in the sun, consider not drinking alcohol, or drinking it at a minimum. Alcohol can be very dangerous when drunk in the sun, since it can further dehydrate you. If you do decide to drink something, be sure to always have water as well.
Sunscreen is Vital
Wear as much sunscreen as you can throughout the day. Most of us apply it once and then forget to reapply it. This ends with us getting awful sunburns that are painful and very dangerous for us. If you are going to be at the beach, buy the highest SPF you can because the salt water increases the chances of getting sunburned.
These tips can make any summer day a fun one without adding any danger to us or our families. Take the time to wear sunscreen and drink lots of water to make sure that you can enjoy yourselves to the maximum.
