How Does SmartLipo Work?
SmartLipo is a quick and easy way to get rid of small stubborn areas of fat. These places include face, neck, jowls, chest (for men with gynemastia), arms, back, and loose skin.
This procedure will make the fat at those problem areas just melt away. The procedure only takes 45 minutes to an hour, and is less likely to cause any problems than conventional liposuction.
Sounds great, right? But how does it actually work?
-
Like any medical procedure, you would have to start with a consultation to discuss what you want done with the doctor. They would also make sure you’re healthy and able to have such a procedure done without any complications.
Granted, there is a lot less risk of a complication with this procedure than with liposuction, but it’s better to be safe than sorry, right?
-
To begin your SmartLipo procedure, the doctor would administer local anesthesia to numb the area.
-
Then the doctor would make a very small cut, about 1 to 2 millimeters.
-
The doctor would insert a cannula just under the skin. A cannula is a thin tube with a laser fiber and small light. The light helps the doctor guide the cannula, and the laser is what does the work.
-
The doctor then moves the cannula in a fanning motion under the skin at the problem area. The laser fiber heats up the fat cells it comes in contact with, causing them to swell and burst.
-
This melted fat will either be removed by the doctor, if there is a lot. If there isn’t too much, your liver will filter it out of your system the way it gets rid of other wastes.
While this procedure is quick and not very hard on your body, you will need about a day or two of resting to allow your body to heal. After that, your problem area will be sculpted and trim.
