When To Consider PRP Therapy
Winter may be upon us, but in Florida, the land of endless summer, this doesn’t really mean much. We won’t get an excuse to cover up those wrinkles, saggy skin, or scars with cute, fashionable winter clothing like our friends up north will.
Let’s face it – many of us are self-conscious about our skin imperfections. Whether we have pockmarks from our childhood chicken pox or teenage acne, or we’ve developed embarrassing neck or facial wrinkles that have aged us prematurely, we look for ways to cover up these blemishes.
But why keep torturing ourselves with this nagging self-consciousness?
At the Red Bamboo Medi-Spa in Clearwater, Dr. Francis Toscano and his Stem Cell Center team work in a revolutionary PRP (platelet rich plasma) therapy that can help free you from scars and skin blemishes and get you feeling more confident than ever!
About PRP
Platelet Rich Plasma therapy uses your own blood to retrieve a mixture of your blood platelets, stem cells, and other growth factors.
These elements, when injected into a problem area, attract more stem cells to that location and encourage deep healing. This is mainly due to your stem cells’ ability to become any type of tissue needed, such as muscle or skin tissue.
Thus, new tissue develops where the PRP is injected, helping in the healing of scars and development of new, healthy skin and promoting tissue regeneration and cellular growth.
About the PRP Treatment Process
The treatment process is fairly simple.
After a small amount of your blood is drawn, it will be spun down in a centrifuge to separate the PRP. Half of the PRP will then be massaged into the micro-channels of your skin, which will be opened up using a special MicroPen, while the other half of the PRP will be injected into problem areas, like deep forehead lines, jowls created by overly lax skin, or deeper scars or pockmarks.
There is almost no downtime – less than 24 hours, and the treatments are painless, as treated areas are numbed first. Most patients need 2-3 treatments, with each treatment being at least 4 weeks apart from the next.
Is PRP Right For You?
If you struggle with:
- Embarrassing scars from acne or chicken pox
- Deep forehead creases or facial wrinkles
- Lax skin
- Neck or chest wrinkles
- Stretch marks
Then PRP therapy is definitely a consideration.
The beauty of PRP is that, because it uses your own blood, it relies on no foreign substances or chemicals. This makes it perfect for those with sensitive skin, or who prefer to use natural, less invasive treatments. There is virtually no risk of an allergic reaction.
At Red Bamboo Medi-Spa, Dr. Francis Toscano and his team have been working in PRP therapy since 2010. We have been proud to use PRP to help repair the body, fight aging skin, restore the ability to orgasm and regrow hair!
